Explore setting up Base Pricing by reviewing a few functional examples.

Summary:

To efficiently manage your pricing strategy within the Base Price Template for Campsites report, it's essential to understand how to adjust prices based on various factors, such as the day of the week, holidays, and special events.

Below, we'll explore functional examples of how to utilize this feature effectively:

  1. Adding Rates for Next Year
  2. Changing Price based on Day of the Week
  3. Adding a Special Event Rate

Base Pricing: Site Types VS Add-Ons

The reports used for managing Base Prices comes in two different variations: one for Site Types and one for Add-ons. If your park offers Day-use or Nightly Add-ons, the information on this page is also applicable to the Base Price Template for Add-Ons as well.

1. Adding Rates for next Year

Use this approach outlined below when you’re first setting up prices for a new time period, such as during onboarding with Campspot or when configuring rates for next year

📌 Note: If you’re setting up rates for the upcoming year and want to reference your current or past pricing, you can download the Base Prices for Campsites report to view that information.

As of the November 2025 update, this report now displays prices by individual day rather than in grouped date ranges. This means downloaded data will show each day’s rate separately, even if you originally set pricing in larger date groups.

  1. Download the Base Price Template for Campsites.

  2. Replace the template dates and pricing numbers with the dates and prices you want to add.

    1. Adjust Days of the Week: In Row 1, set the abbreviated days (e.g., M, T, W, Th, F, S, SU) to reflect which days the rates will apply to. For example, you might want to group M,T,W,Th together in one column and F,S,Su together in another column to differentiate for weekend pricing.

    2. Update Rates: Input the rates to align with your pricing strategy for each set of days.

  1. Upload the file through Campground Setup > Properties > Base Pricing > Upload Campsite Pricing CSV.

📌  Note: It is important that when setting pricing for the full upcoming year (or beyond), you do not leave any dates out of the template as they will not be bookable if they have no pricing.

Holiday Rates

As part of your yearly pricing strategy, you may want to include Holiday Rate for those peak season Holidays when setting up pricing for the full year. To do this, you will follow similar actions:

  1. Add holiday date ranges (please see note)
  2. Adjust Days of the Week if necessary (please see note)
  3. Update Rates

Please Note:

  1. Positioning of Date Ranges: Ensure that the new date ranges and rates are input into columns before the columns holding the year date range. This is crucial because the system reads the report from left to right. If a reservation falls within the dates on a column, the system will price each individual night within that date range. Including specific date ranges to the left of broader ones ensures accurate pricing.
  2. Days of the Week Adjustment: In situations where you aim to set pricing for particular date ranges, it's essential to include all days of the week in the designated column. This step is crucial to guarantee a successful upload and fulfill the system's requirements.

By including all days of the week, even if the pricing is only applicable to specific dates within the range, you ensure that the system processes the data accurately. This approach helps maintain consistency and prevents potential errors during the pricing setup process.

2. Changing existing Prices based on the Day of the Week (updating strategy)

One of the simplest ways to enhance your pricing strategy is by adjusting rates based on demand throughout the year. For example, you might price Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights higher than weekdays to reflect typical booking patterns.

Use this approach when you already have base prices set and want to update your existing strategy — for example, adjusting weekend prices to better align with demand or testing new pricing tiers.

Example: A campground decides they want to increase their weekend rates for their RV Premium sites between 06/01/2026- 08/01/2026 to $62. They follow the below steps to achieve this:

  1. Download the Base Price Template for Campsites.

  2. Replace the template dates and pricing numbers with the dates and prices you want to update. In this example that would be 06/01/2026- 08/01/2026.

  3. Upload the file through Campground Setup > Properties > Base Pricing > Upload Campsite Pricing CSV.

The following examples are acceptable ways to make this update:

Option 1: Only including the one site type that should be updated

In the image below, $62 pricing is only added for the one site type that the campground wishes to update for and the park has deleted all the other site types from the template. This is an acceptable way to upload the template and pricing will only be changed for the included site type and dates with no changes taking place to any other site types or dates that are not included.

Option 2: Keeping all site types on the template but only adding pricing for the one that should be updated

In the image below, the $62 pricing is only added for the one site type that the campground wishes to update for while the other site types are left blank. This is an acceptable way to upload the template and pricing will only be changed for the specified site type and dates will be updated with no changes taking place to any site types that are left blank.

📌 Note: When updating the Base Price Template, only include the Site Types you are adjusting. You can remove any rows for Site Types that do not need changes — leaving them out of the template will not alter their existing rates in the system. This is especially useful when updating a small subset of dates, such as weekend rates for specific Site Types.

3. Special Event Rates

To add a special rate for an event, you will follow the same actions as step #2.

    1. Download the Base Price Template for Campsites.

    2. Replace the template dates and pricing numbers with the dates and prices you want to update keeping in mind that you only need to enter the dates you are updating and all other rates will remain unchanged.

    3. Upload the file through Campground Setup > Properties > Base Pricing > Upload Campsite Pricing CSV.
