      Discounts: Rule Setup

      Learn how to optimize your campground pricing with Campspot's Discount rule, offering flexible and precise percentage-based discounts for various scenarios.

      Summary:

      The Discount rule serves as a valuable tool for those occasional scenarios demanding a manual percentage-based discount. This rule, applicable only through the admin site, ensures precise customization when needed.

      Uses:

      Below are some examples of the most common Discounts used in the Admin Site:

      • Guest Recovery: Provide targeted discounts to guests for exceptional customer service recovery.
      • Military / Active Duty / Civil Service: Extend discounts to those who serve in various capacities.
      • AAA: Offer discounts to AAA members as a gesture of appreciation.
      • Membership Discount (Good Sam, KOA Rewards, Club Yogi): Apply percentage-based discounts for specific memberships.
      • Group Discount: While Package Pricing is ideal for group tracking, discounts can also be applicable.

      Please note: Discounts are percentage-based only, and only one can be applied per reservation.

      Setup Instructions:

      Step 1: Find the Rule on the Pricing page

      1. Navigate to the Rules page
      2. Click on the Pricing tab
      3. Select the Discounts Rule

      Step 2: Complete New Variation Form

      1. On the rule page, click New Variation.
      2. Complete the form.

      Discount-form

      Rule Name A customer-facing name for the discount rule, appearing on the customer's invoice.
      Discount Enter a numerical value for the percentage to be applied.
      Can Be Applied with Package Deals/Promo Codes Choose whether the discount can be applied in conjunction with Package Pricing.
      Discount Applies To:

      Select eligible items for the discount:

      • Campsite Reservation – will apply the discount to only the reservation dollars. If Can Be Applied with Package Deals/Promo Codes is selected, this would apply to those rates as well.
      • Add-on Reservation – will apply the discount to any add-ons that are on the reservation.
      • Locked Site Fees – will apply the discount to the locked site fee (if site is locked).
      • Pet Fees – will apply the discount to any pet fees associated with the reservation.
        Occupancy Fees – will apply the discount to any occupancy fees associated with the reservation.

      Setting a Discount vs. Package Pricing:

      Discounts and Package Pricing serve distinct purposes and cater to different scenarios within Campspot. Understanding the differences is crucial for effective utilization.

      Discounts:

      • Type: Percentage-based only.
      • Application: Manually added through the admin site via a drop-down menu.
      • Usage: Ideal for one-time, manual discounts, such as Guest Recovery, Military/Service Discounts, AAA, Membership Discounts, and occasional Group Discounts.
      • Limitations: Only one discount per reservation.

      Package Pricing (Variable or Fixed Rate Types):

      • Type: Offers both Variable and Fixed Rate Types for diverse pricing strategies.
      • Application: Configured through the Pricing page, providing a comprehensive approach to campground pricing.
      • Usage: Suited for systematic, recurring pricing structures, providing flexibility for specific criteria, length of stay, check-in day, booking window, and special occasions.
      • Benefits: Allows for crafting adaptive pricing strategies, encouraging extended stays, strategic check-in day adjustments, flexible booking windows, special pricing for peak days, and seasonal flat rates for extended stays.

      Choosing between Discounts and Package Pricing depends on the nature of the discount, the frequency of application, and the level of customization required for campground pricing strategies.
